in the arms of a pterodon in poetry

after every Jurassic Park movie comes out
there’s a spike in baby dinosaur adoptions
because they’re just so damn adorable but
within a year, most of them get abandoned
in the forest or the sewers or whatever
when you adopt a dino let the kids know
this now the beastie’s raptorever home
even when it grows up not so cute and
it fangoriously devours their friends
when you adopt, you adopt it for life
and probably the lives of hundreds of
people all over the city you live in
until the dinosaur eats you, of course
