Saturday. We took Lola into Perranporth, not that she walked through the streets, Lola expects to be taken to the car park on the front; getting out in the back car park is not liked by Lola! Being not a pushovers all the time we did go to the back car park after visiting the Co-op, the plan was to put some cloths in the Salvation Army deposit bin, we are having a clear out and I had brought a sack of cloths all packed in the free shopping bags; all deposited in the bin! As this was going on, three packs at a time, and a heavy gate system to be sure donations only go in!
After that the rain had returned, so rather walking to Boots the Chemist which is just across the road from the seafront car park, so we relocated to the seafront car park; once there I looked after Lola while Sweetheart went to Boots. When Sweetheart was back the rain had eased, so we had a walk on the stormy beach, it wasn’t a long walk as the rough weather was blowing the sea up the beach; after crossing the bridge over one of the streams you really need a good pair of wellingtons – and a sharp eye on the odd high wave rolling in behind you!
Once more we didn’t get far across the beach, but some of the waves rolled in from out beyond the Chapel Rock and kept going until it came against the wall in front of the car park.
The Perrancoombe stream flowing through Perranporth to the beach.
Wednesday. Miraculous, it’s just over a week since my collision with a disconnected tree branch on a wild and stormy night, a firm were booked to replace the windscreen today, weather permitting ….! Of late you might have seen my writing on the unrelenting nature of our weather, I wasn’t surprised to wake into a wind wet morning, we had worked at a plan B, a rather hurried clearing of the garage; not a total clearing but enough to make room for half a mini one.
I was up early, by my life style, and swapped the cars about, leaving the mini well placed for the upcoming job; then we had a phone call. He would be with us after eleven am, I spent a half hour placing things out of the way – making a max of the area available. All this time a strong wind had been driving rain down the valley, the windscreen van arrived at the given time followed by the postman; and he was followed by less wind – no rain and a little sunshine.
Even then the weather looked unpromising, so I open the garage and dived the mini half way in, he worked quietly for an hour and half then tapped on the door. I went down to inspect his handwork, as digital box was passed to me I felt a drop on rain on my hand, I quickly autographed his pad with a styles, that skidded over a glass smooth screen and then listened to a printer printing out my recite; with the recite folded in a small card folder with the van going down the drive I headed out of the renewed rain and wind.
In side I looked at the recite, I noticed my signature printed there as I had sighed it on the pad, with the pad handed to me upside down and so it was on the recite …..

If they hand you the machine upside down they should expect to get signatures upside down.
Lovely, rainy day photos.

Amazing pictures as usual! For some odd reason, mine are refusing to show up!

RYNote. I have my images on ‘flickr’ I’m told it’s not the best site for what I’m doing! I select the image then click on three dots on the lower right of screen, then select ‘all sizes’ and select size, click on the image and right click on copy.
Now on prosebox, select ‘create new entry’ then in ‘content’ select the fifth little box and another box will open, click on the box and paste with a right click. The image code should appear in ‘content’
Once you have finished your entry click on ‘preview’ and the images are displayed with your text.
I hope that works for you, and thank you for your note.

it certainly is an awful time you are all having over in UK.....our news is full of it too. Amazingly, your photos almost make it look exciting...brilliant as always. Poor Lola with her short legs....it must limit her walks with all that water. smiles and hugs p

RYnote. Here in Perranporth we’ve just rough weather, I think a few properties down near the beach have had water inside, most are commercial and are there to get the tourist business as they make their to the beach. I’ve always wanted a home with a view of the sea or a river, but not by but somewhere above. Across the country there is so much flooding, and every where the land is holding so much water, the last few days the rain has been hard but to continues and in the gaps we have had a little sunshine; perhaps things are changing – we will see! Looking round the world we can see just how lucky we are, most of our buildings are well built, I’ve learnt that our houses are built to keep out water up to 160cm’s, as long as you have sealing doors; nearly no one has them. But once the water is over that height you have to let the water in, as the pressure or the water could press-in the walls! We being on the side of a valley flooding isn’t likely, if we were flooded there would be trouble! What we get is water working it’s way down the valley, the sides are well wooded which helps to hold things together; or I hope!

It is very interesting to hear about conditions from diarists around the world who are actually living in the areas. I remember one year when we lived in Surrey where I counted 50 days in a row where we had rain. Yes it was wet and gloomy, but I just was thankful it wasn't snow.

RYNote. I agree, rain doesn’t lie about going hard into ice, or into that grey mush at the side of the road, on the other hand rain doesn’t turn a landscape into a winter wonderland, there are two sides to most things; and in time both help to keep our country green ……

Before I read your entry I want to say that our national news is giving significant time to your flooding along the Thames. They are describing it as the worst in many years. / I've been busy with so many other things that I haven't been on PB regularly. My Sister lost my nephew dog, Cisco, yesterday. At nearly 130 years (almost 17) he had been having health problems for nearly a year but kept on smiling. I shudder to think how quiet their home is, having lost their cat and dog in quick succession. / Rain, rain, water everywhere. Look at those roiling waves by Chapel Rock! You must be as weary of your rain as we are of our cold. Next week it should be above freezing. Do Lola and Ziggy have "wellies"? / A relief the rain held off for your windshield repair. / Keep your head above the water!!

Oh goodness - poor J! She's so NOT having a good year so far is she? That's a lot of grief to deal with so close together.
