The first smoke filled day, we decided to go to Shelter Island to watch the star and her flotilla head out to sea. This second day, I let George decide where he wanted to go to see the star go out. He chose the top of the point….and off we went.

(Ignoring the small boats,) L to R, The Star of India, The San Salvador, the tug, the America, and the Californian.

Heading out, the San Salvador.

There were few boats with the Star as she left the bay yesterday morning. As she returned home, crowds gathered both on the bay and on the water. It was a heartening thing to see. I told G that from a distance, she looked like a wedding cake with frosting flowers gathered on top.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

  • Himself: At work at 0530. Bosses gone to HI, and G has his follow-up appointment at 1400. This way he only has to take a few hours sick time. It’s tender but improving every day.

  • Myself: Sore all over from all the traipsing we have been doing. Pleased with G’s improvement. Being a Hausfrau today….laundry, dishes, that sort of thing.

  • Reading: Old Cruise ship books.

  • Gratitude’s: We are having thanksgiving dinner with Pam, Poolies special friend, and it will be a sad but good meal.
