One deep breath... in At the foot of the hill

….and I realize that, once again, I waste too much energy worrying. The latest: Thanksgiving dinner.
Because Mike and Jeri and their younger son will be heading for North Dakota to spend the holiday with her recently widowed mom, the plan was for Bob and I to spend Thanksgiving with our other grandson. After some less-than-wonderful attempts at cooking over the last few years, I panicked at the thought of preparing Thanksgiving dinner. Mulling it over and over, I decided we should just go out to eat. But where? Lots of choices around here from $$ to $$$. Finally decided to ask the young man how he liked a certain place. He got back to me quickly saying yes, indeed, that would be fine. I waited another day before calling for reservations… the guy on the phone pleasantly explained that they were entirely booked.... Of course they were. Thanksgiving is only a week off at this time.
Plan B: What to do, what do? If this place was booked, likely the other nicer places were as well. Better get on the ‘net and check out “prepared meals”. All I could find were to serve much larger parties. There’s 3 of us, right? Found a place just a couple blocks down the street offering smaller (11-13 pound) fully cooked turkey and trimmings for less than we would pay at a restaurant for 3 of us. Bob got on line and ordered it! First try, they said they were sold out. For some reason, he tried again and low and behold, the order went thru an was confirmed.
Well, all righty, then. I can add a couple of favorite dishes and we’re good.
I have always enjoyed setting a “pretty” table, but in our limited space here, have not done it for years. Dug in the closet for my bag of nice table cloths, none of which really fit our little table, but found one that can be adapted. Needs to be laundered. The good china will need a soapy bath, along with the glass ware. But now, I’m excited.
Wish me luck!!! And I hope you all have a wonderful day, giving Thanks for many blessings. I know I will.
