I think I got all of 3 hours of sleep last night. Which means I am not physically fine today (sore, stiff, pain). It also means I’m not emotionally/mentally great. Because since I didn’t sleep much, my brain hasn’t gotten that reboot it needs. Y’see, humans are like really shitty computers. If you don’t shut down after a few hours of continuous use, you’re gonna develop problems. Further, if you are developing these problems… a good fix is to turn yourself off (sleep) wait a few minutes, turn yourself back on (wake).

So… I’m sitting in my office. My neck, shoulders, forearms, back, and thighs are super unhappy. My eyes are whispering “blink longer, that’s right. Loooong blinks today.” And mentally? I have to admit I’m pretty checked out. Like… I could at least clean my desk as I’m accruing a nice ski-mountain of loose paper. But… I just don’t feel like it. Like at home. I should clean there because having a cleaner apartment will make it easier to pack. But I just… don’t feel like it.

Which… is actually a frustrating place to be. Because I’d like to not be in pain, y’know? I’d like to be organized and put together. I’d like to feel focused and motivated. But I’m just.... not there this week.

After work today, I drive back to IF so the Locksmith can finish re-keying and re-knobbing my doors. I am really hoping it is quick this time. I stayed in IF until about 8 last night, which got me home around 9. And I know there are people in this world doing far more than that but… leaving MTown apartment at 7 a.m. and returning back there at 9 p.m. felt like a long day. And I still couldn’t sleep. So I’m really hoping I get to IF around 5. Locksmith gets done in one or two hours, I get home before 8… and at that point, probably buy a lot of caffeine (dooming me to not sleep again) in an effort to restore energy and get me to clean the damned apartment.

NOJOMO 1

  1. Create a five-question survey for others to fill out and fill it out for yourself as an ice breaker.

Question 1: Describe, in one word, what you think the world most needs?
Answer 1: There are songs that would suggest the word should be love or compassion. There are people who would say intelligence or sense. Some would say peace. Others might say comfort. I think I’m going to say “Courage.” I feel like if we had more courage in this world… bad people wouldn’t succeed unchallenged so much and fear-mongering wouldn’t be as effective.

Question 2: There are hundreds of “Comedy Journalists” or “Journalist Comedians” like John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Nish Kumar, John Stewart, Michael Che, Colin Jost, Trevor Noah, Samantha Bee, Larry Whitmore, etcetera. Which of them would you want to be interviewed by and what non-professional topic would you hope to riff about?
Answer 2: I would either say Stephen Colbert to discuss Lord of the Rings or Rachel Parris and just chat endlessly!

Question 3: What is your opinion of the popular sci-fi futuristic notion of “Food in Pill Form?”
Answer 3: The only way I think this technology would ever be embraced by the masses is if the pill gave the visceral and flavor sensations that eating normal food does. I mean, yeah… I’m the perfect guy for Food in Pill form. Pop a pill, not have to eat that day, I would be SO DOWN WITH THIS! But eventually… I’d want “Shrimp Casserole” or “Klein Specials” or “Seafarer’s Rafts” or “Oyster Stew” or “Chocolate Steamed Pudding” or “Easter Swans”… a food with an emotional historical connecting for me. And if even I’m not willing to go totally Pill Form, I can’t imagine any society agreeing en mass to such a thing.

Question 4: Congratulations, you’ve been selected to be a recurring character on a cartoon show!! As Cartoons always wear the same outfit, what would your cartoon avatar wear if they most wanted to ‘capture your daily look?”
Answer 4: I would love it if my answer could be more exotic or impressive, but I’d have to say a dark suit with a colored shirt, tie to match, black shoes, and a long black trench coat.

Question 5: Imagine you are sitting in a bar or a small cafe, when an individual of your preferred gender appears. Describe what that person would look like, wear, say, and/or do if the encounter ended with you immediately asking for a date.
Answer 5: I’m a female empowerment classicist in some ways here. The scenario plays out several different ways for me but some things are always the same. Hair color doesn’t matter. Height doesn’t matter. Eye color doesn’t matter. Skin color doesn’t matter. Hair length doesn’t matter. Clothing changes each time I consider it… from an elegant red evening gown, to a green mini dress, to a little black dress, to a black skirt with black and white stripped shirt, to black long sleeved pullover and black leggings… clothing is never consistent. But there are some things that are always consistent in this scenario. (A) I’m always immediately drawn to the face. A good face is worth more than a good body. (B) She catches my eye from almost her immediate entrance into the room. (C) She approaches me, she makes the first move… no ambiguous consent or undeclared intentions, she goes straight to enthusiastic consent and mutually expressed interest. (D) We don’t leave right away. We stay and chat, have a few drinks, and get to know each other before leaving for a dinner date that ends in passionate, mutually enjoyable and mutually adventurous sexy times.
