“What are you celebrating this week?”

I am a solitary witch. That’s the only label I will allow for myself and abilities.

I don’t get into the whole show, song, and dance…it’s just not my thing. I have my basic tools I use, and that’s fine with me. No disrespect to my fellow witches out there. The humble basics have always worked for me, so I’m not about to change it up.

My uncle passed away on Monday, and my culture handles death different. So, I have been with my mom for the most part.

We had some left-overs from the shared meals we have as we go through our cultural doings, and it felt right…especially considering all the synchronicity being thrown at me. Meh. Just go with it.

So, I had some left-over food, talked with my uncle…and pretty much anyone who was listening.

My two older kids are here, and my youngest arrives tomorrow for the funeral.

This is, overall, considered the Pagan New Year. “Season of the Witch”, in some lore, because with the days being shorter and colder, sometimes, all we have is ourselves to keep busy. It’s a time of self-contemplation, and just like the regular “new year”, there are “resolutions” of sorts.

This is what I observed in all my time AWARE of my abilities and such.

So, the veil is open, and I can feel the surge of energy. I feel the cold and sadness from those spirits who are not at rest, or have no one to remember them. I feel the warmth from those who are at peace…even my own family.

I am not surprised my uncle is leaving at this time of year. It makes sense. He was a faithful member of the Native American Church. The NAC is a combination of old teachings with a dash of Christianity shoved into those teachings.

But, to each their own.

Blessed be.
