On the corner of Abbott and Lotus Streets, there are three buildings. Pre WWII officer housing, they were floated down from Camp Pendleton, and moved ashore in OB. They have real lathe and plaster walls, and in both the kitchen and bathroom there were soft pink tiles with an occasional Mexican image.

I loved living there. I’m sure the kids didn’t, but I liked the realness of the buildings. With hard wood floors and those funny tiles, I felt right at home.
