This sporting life in blackpropaganda

Saturday afternoons are now taken up with international rugby football - not that I am a rugby man but it is fun to watch as 30 men chase around a field for a ball, bashing any number of bells out of each other - and showing national pride.

I have never played the game - I am glad to say - since it seems highly dangerous to me - and our sons kept well away from it at their school which played rugby and not soccer. However it can be very exciting when there are fast moves, good handling, and the kind of skill in side-stepping etc which deceives the opponents.

So I am sitting here watching Ireland play Wales, and then looking forward to England play Scotland - the problem for me, even as an Englishman, is that a lot of the pundits and commentators believe England have a God-given right to win - even though they are crap sometimes. I suspect they will blow Scotland apart today.

And then tonight out to a Burns Night dinner - yep I know Burns Night was ages ago, but dinners go on for weeks as speakers tour around from one to another. So we shall celebrate the great poet, eat haggis, drink Scotch - and generally have a good time. I have nothing Scottish to wear - no tartan tie, no tartan socks - not even tartan underpants. Of course, the men wearing kilts will have no underpants on anyway!!! Ever heard of tossing the caber!!!!

And just another thought - there have been a whole lot of articles about how pubic hair is in for women - and depilation is out. Well, is this true?
