Me Thur 2-5-2004 What a horrid night last night! It started with Figaro parking on my arm and having a Mexican stand off with Gabby over possession of my body with my arm caught in the middle. Every time I would drift off to sleep Figaro would start growling and I would wake up in terror that my arm was about to be made into coleslaw. Then every half hour either Pepe or Snoopy would decide they wanted in the guest room and would claw the carpet and door. Then Gateway (the outside cat) and Gabby got into a yowling contest between 4-6 AM. I got so aggravated I went out in the snow with my bare feet and nightgown to chase Gateway away from the window. I had promised Viv that I would be at work by 7.30 so we could get to Curves early tonight but after the sleepless night I had I hit the snooze button until 8 and didn't get to work until 9.

Didn't matter cause Curves was closed tonight because of the snow storm. We ended up with about ten inches of snow in my part of town. The office closed at 3 so that made for a short day. I took advantage of the extra time off to try to get rid of the cat box smell in my main bath.I hate having a litter box in the house!I got spoiled having them in the garage and the cat run but now that I have Gabby in my room and Figaro decided he doesn't want to get his paws wet out in the snow I have to have two boxes.  I don't think any of my efforts to get rid of the smell worked very well. By the time Gina comes to stay I want to have it back to garage and cat run only.

Me Fri 2/6/2004 In place of a Figaro picture I'll share the story of a conversation I had with my father last weekend. We were talking about Figaro's health, and I said that actually he has been feeling better lately and gaining weight. He advised me that his cat acted better and gained weight too JUST BEFORE SHE DIED! I hope I didnt inherit my dads lack of tact!

The snow kept several of co workers out of the office today. I was the only person in my pod. I guess that makes me pod leader by default. It was kind of boring there by myself. It didn't help that I had to work through my lunch to make up for being late this morning. I got up 45 minutes early to make sure I got to work on time taking the snow into account. Then I realised that I had left all my jeans in the washing machine and they had to be dried before I had anything to wear to work. ; After drying the clothes I was running late and still had to drag the trash out to the curb plus dig my driveway out of all the snow the street crews had piled in the driveway.

The highlight of my day was my friend in the CRD Department (or as we like to call it, the CRUD department), Melanie, had her husband bring their Corgi puppy in for a visit. I got to hold her. She was so soft and cuddly and kissable.

I want to go to the farm but its supposed to be really cold with the wind causing drifting snow this weekend so I wouldn't be able to do much besides sit by the fire shivering. I guess I'll wait until a nicer weekend to go. I also need to go to my aunts so she can do my taxes for me.

I need to take Gabby to the vet tomorrow. He has a sore on his tail. He first got it back when I first got him and all the other cats were trying to beat him up but that should have healed by now, and I was just noticing that the area looked bloody. I haven't been hearing any fighting that would indicate a fresh wound.

Sat 2-7-2004 Pretty uneventful day. I got up early (for me), and went to Curves. After Curves I took Gabby to the vet regarding the sore on his tail. Turns out I have ANOTHER cat with emotional issues. The vet thinks the sore is there from the fight he got in with Snoop back in November but that Gabby keeps licking the area so it never heals. Im supposed to put something nasty tasting around the area so he will leave it alone. The odd thing is that he doesn't do it when the other cats are in here. Just when he is in my room alone or with me.

In the afternoon I read some more of the book I bought about the Chouteau family. A Pioneer family living in Kansas City in the 1830's. If I ever lose my job I'm going to go back to school and be a history teacher. I didn't realise at the time but one of the books I got about Lewis and Clark at the library was published back in 1970. In that book they totally glossed over the slavery issue, and painting York and Clark's relationship as a good one and that Clark set York free after the expedition. In reality York was unhappy living in St Louis and wanted to live in Louisville with his wife. Clark thought that was totally ludicrous and threatened to sell him to a "severe master". To give the author his due though a lot of that information was not found out until a trunk containing letters from Clark to his brother was found in a Clark family descendants attic in the 1990's.

Tonight I watched Trading Spaces and Clean Sweep. I still think they deliberately over exaggerate how messy the couple are on Clean Sweep. I think they have them dump out drawers before they turn the camera on. No one lives THAT messy.

me Friday 2-7-2014

Still floors me how much TV I watched in 2004. Im impressed that I stuck with going to Curves for the whole week. I have to keep reading to see how long I stuck with it. Im betting not long.

Still mourning the loss of OD. I don't care what other people say or if they are tired of hearing about it. It’s a loss for us to deal with and whether you react with sadness, anger, denial, etc etc its going to take time to adjust. Yes we are lucky to have PB and I’m lucky most of my favorites came to PB but one of my fav’s, Deve, is not joining PB and he has been a big help to me over the years with computer stuff and vision stuff. I’m going to miss him. He was the one that gave me a gentle push to start writing again after I took my year long break.

Good Things i did for me
