Hello there everyone.I made a promise to myself that I would try to do an entry today! So here goes. The speech went very well and I only went a minute over time!Ha ha!Even then I forgot an imortant piece. No notes of course which suited me as I knew what I was talking about.I have had a rather busy week and have decided I would have a quiet weekend. Monday was Speech night,Tuesday?Don't think I did much, probably caught up on housework etc.Wednesday was a lulu!! I had been asked to help host a Luncheon for members of the Diocesan Committee and staff of our church. They were having their staff day out.All are based in the Auckland Area which is huge. They came over and did a bus tour of the Island then came to our church for a BBQ lunch. There were 4 of us and 87 of them!Shriek! Two of our Parish manned the BBQ and I did the meet and greet then belted around making sure the food didn't run out and everyone was happy..Luckily we have had our church renovated in the last year and the atrium is much larger and opens onto a courtyard where 2 BBq's were set up.It was cool and sunny when we started and horrifically hot by the time we finished!Phew! The food just dissappeared and the drinks had to keep going and going!Non-alcoholic of course. When I finally got home just after 3 I was coming to the boil. Just before they left we had a Liturgy in the church so that was a nice way to tie it all up.All expressed delight at how it all went in an email yesterday and I was well pleased with how it all went. Thursday was our National Day,'Waitangi Day'.The Treaty betwen Maori Chiefs and the NZ Government was signed 1840 at Waitangi in the Bay of Islands up North. It has always been a rather contentious day as our Maori people have many grievances against the Crown with some justification.I won't go into it at any length: it is long and as I said,'contentious'.Over the past 20 years, the Government has been negotiating settlements with the iwi,(tribes) and the settlements are coming to an end. Many hundreds of million dollars have been given in compensation to the iwi involved.I really have no arguement with that, although many Pakeha or 'White) New Zealanders do and so there has always been someone protesting at something up there at Waitangi on Waitangi Day.Politicians of every stripe attend and a huge media presence.A bit boring to be honest. So,I stayed home and had another lazy day!Tee-hee! Yesterday was amorning in Oneroa then home to just relax as the weather turned horribly humid.Everything seemed an effort and caused a sweat!Especially this morning when I took Taitai for his walk!A heavy mist, hot and very humid!I was relieved when the wind changed to a cool southerly. Here I am talking about heat when many of you in the northern hemisphere are still enduring dreadful weather and freezing conditions.Such is life and not a heck of a lot we can do about it! Well I'll finish this now and as I become accustomed more to PB i am sure I'll get more regular.I hope! All is well here and hope all is well with you. Be Kind to Each Other, God Bless, Lotsa love, Majimazexxxxxx
