So, new readers won't know my working past. I grew up working in the animal field. As a child I would go into the animal hospital where my mother worked. I grew up learning the basics of working with animals, and helping out here and there. Then my mother ended up managing the local animal shelter where I worked on weekends while I was in middle/high school. I learned more and more throughout that experience as well. Then I ended up working at a boarding kennel that my mother ended up managing. I went in one day to do community service for school, and the owner ended up hiring me because I was better at the job than his actual employees lol. I worked there for a few years, and quite frankly my mother tried to run it the best she could, considering the owner lacked a backbone, common sense, and had no earthly idea what he was doing. I was a crucial component to that kennel. I kept that place up to par whenever I was there, and covered everybody's asses. And the pups adored me. I handled most if not all of the 'danger' dogs. I did what everyone else was too damn slow to do. I redid what they did wrong....the list of my contributions goes on and on. Anyway, we parted ways from that place, and now I am working retail.
Retail is on thing I told never expected myself to be doing. So how did I end up here? I needed work, so I applied for some Christmas work. I do the work, which was surprisingly a lot, but not as bad as I expected. Anyway, I was told towards the end of that holiday work that I was unable to be kept on, and my final schedule was all set. Then comes the last day I'm scheduled. I got pulled into the HR office and was asked to stay on as a regular member. That's how I got there. Turns out, the staff sort of campaigned for me. They saw who was staying on and who wasn't, and they all were surprised that I wasn't being kept. So, the staff overruled that decision and now I am working retail. So, with the holiday staff cut, I have been getting settled into the regular routine. The hours are scheduled pretty shitty, and apparently everyone is upset about the low amount of hours, but none of them are willing to stay late or cover shifts, so I constantly get asked to stay late or to cover someone's shift. I almost always accept, because I am there to work. Money is money, and the only way to make more is to do what? Work. Today frustrated me though. I get done with my shift and then I head on out. I leave. Then on my way home they call me. I ignored it. Not the best practice, but if they wanted me to stay, they should have asked me before my shift ended and I left. At any rate. Here I am working retail.
