It finally rained today! it was pouring down for about 4 hours. I’ve never been so happy to see rain, it’s so good to be cool through the day, and to be able to breathe, and to discover that my chronic exhaustion was not due to getting older but simply to the high temperatures. Hubby insists that the grass on the lawn has grown at least 2 inches since this morning, it certainly does look longer and the flowers in the garden looked happy as they turned up their heads to a refreshing drink after weeks of sweltering days waiting for me to finally go out with the hosepipe in the early evenings. I expect the farmers are heaving hefty sighs of relief.

Tony is not happy. He has big problems with his car and has been waiting ages for a part he bought on Ebay. It finally arrived this week and last night he began to dismantle the car ready to put the new part in today; it was impossible to work on it today. Tomorrow he has promised to take Justeen shopping and he is talking of putting the car back together and letting the garage do the job, but that will cost him a fortune. It seems likely that he will be borrowing our car tomorrow and Hubby will be taking him to and fetching him from work next week unless he can get a lift.

We went to see Mamma Mia 2 on Wednesday. It’s a great film, I loved the music and it is a beautiful setting, though I was a little disappointed that Meryl Streep was hardly in it as she is my favourite actress and I loved her in the first film. We went to the late afternoon showing which got us out of the heat and into a lovely air conditioned cinema!

More rain is forecast for tomorrow and then it is expected that we will be back to high temperatures, but at least this weekend will have been a happy respite, except fot Tony, of course!
