doubting before it was cool in poetry

Doubting Thomas the original hipster
interrogating Jesus on the authenticity
on the artisanal veracity of his actions

were the loaves gluten-free, though, Jesus?
was the fish organically non-GMO open-water farmed?
WERE DOLPHINS HARMED AND YOU JUST MULTIPLIED THE HARM?
was the wine you made from water, were there peppery notes?
jammy undertones? how was the nose, Christ, how was the nose?
New Testament, really? I liked the first book before it was cool
peacemakers are fine but can they make a cool fixer-gear bike?
I walked on water too back when we called it ice

at that point, Jesus had Judas rat him out
to get away from that Thomas the Doubter
and his poses toward detached coolness
as it got louder and louder
Christ could not forget even though He forgave
still He hid for three days just in case in a cave
to make sure he was gone
