Here we are in June. So much happened in May. It was one of the most full months we have had in a long time. Kayla and Timmy’s sweet sixteen was great. Their birthday was on Friday, May 11th. On Friday night my dad and stepmom and my husband’s parents came into town. We all went out for dinner at the Olive Garden. The twins received some of their birthday gifts. They got gift cards and cash. They are planning to use the gift cards to buy some summer clothes. Part of the cash they will use now and part will go into their college savings accounts.

On Saturday we had Timmy and Kayla’s birthday party. My sister and brother and my husband’s sister came. Some of the twins’ friends came also. The weather turned out to be nice and we cooked hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers. The kids played Kan Jam and a game where they try to throw balls in the center of rings in a kiddie pool. My husband did some work for one of his friends last year. This friend does landscaping and fixed up the backyard for the party. He planted flowers and shrubs. It was really nice.

The twins did well in the presents department. Most of it was cash and gift cards. I guess people don’t know what to get teenagers, and most of them just want cash or gift cards anyway. The twins have enough to get some items they have been wanting and still put money away for college.

On their birthday night, the twins each went to see a movie with a friend. The movies started around nine and ended about eleven-thirty. That is the latest they have been out on their own. I dropped them off and picked them off, so I wasn’t too worried. They will be in college in just over two years. I guess I have to start letting go a little bit.

Also this month Timmy and Kayla were both in the musical at their high school. The performance was “Hairspray.” There were three shows on Friday, Saturday, and a Sunday matinee. They played kids on a dance show and also kids in a high school class. I was really impressed with how well all the kids did on the show. It is not an easy musical for high school students because they have to relate to a completely different time and almost all the scenes are musical. The kids did a really good job of staying focused.
