balancing act in poetry

some wear hearts on sleeves
in the hope of attention
others we do so instead
to remind ourselves
we still have one
it's a balancing act

going to the abyss edge
for some darker knowledge
only means a good goddamn
if you're able to get back
come back all the way and tell the story
it's a balancing act

some men want to be feared
and some men want to be loved
and other still just wish
to be regarded as so special
they needn't work real hard
skate through life on
occasional brilliance and charm
men like me basically
it's a
balancing act
