good eats in poetry

one of the new slangs by the kids
on the facespaces and the twitzels
is to say of someone attractive
“oh that person’s such a snack”
and I don’t know
conflating someone’s lust with
their appetite for food it just
it just seems so damned American
but it’s a thing that’s happening
and it leads me to consider that
I could never be a snack
even if you find me attractive
I could never be a snack
I am just under six and a half feet tall
I am just over three hundred pounds
I could never be a snack
if you think that I’m good looking
I could well be an extra-value meal
but I could never be a snack
I am no aperitif
I am a buffet
I could not serve to appetize
though I could well be super-sized
I could well be
a double-quarter pounder with cheese
large Coke and large fries
sweet and sour sauce for dipping on the side
of love
I could well be a handsome
four-course meal of love
but I could never be a snack
I could never be a bag of chips
I could only be a feast
but maybe that’s the better way to be
if the lady really hungers for love
at least
