It was a cloudy windy day with intermittent rain. Not a good day for our planned excursion to the zoo.

We had to get out anyway. We decided to drive to the beach. It was only fifteen minutes away. And of course I turned the wrong way and we ended up at another spot we planned to see after the beach, the old Coronado Hotel. I couldn’t find a place to park so I turned around. (Having to find a place to poop didn’t help!) We found a state beach park (with a restroom!) Mom stayed in the car while I took care of business and then I walked out onto the beach and took a few pictures.

I found where I took the wrong turn and finally found Imperial Beach and the pier. Mom’s walker didn’t work too well on the planks of the pier and it was cold and windy so we didn’t walk out on the pier, so we just left.

We spent the rest of the day in the room.

I did have an interesting conversation outside with a gentleman, Alfa, from Australia. He had started an around the world trip. He had landed in L.A. and driven down here. His next stop was Las Vegas and then the Grand Canyon.

To be continued-
