Happy May! I want to thank the new people running PB for keeping this site going. I would have really missed PB if it went away. Also thank you to Simple Mind for five years of running PB.

May will be an important month for us. Kayla and Timmy’s sixteenth birthdays are on May 11th, and Aaron’s thirteenth birthday is on May 19th. I have had the song “You’re Sixteen” by Ringo Starr stuck in my head the whole month of April. We are having a sixteenth birthday party a week from Saturday. Also we are going out for dinner for each of their birthdays.

In a couple of weeks Timmy and Kayla will have Advanced Placement Exams. Not on their birthday, though. They have been studying and doing practice exams. The exams will be in biology and world history. They will also have their regular end-of-year exams next month.

Aaron will have exams for the first time at the end of this school year. This will be a new experience for him as he did not have end-of-year exams in elementary school. Aaron is going on a trip to New York City with school this month. They are going to the American Museum of Natural History, the Statue of Liberty, and One World.

I didn’t realize it until this year, but I think seventh and tenth grades are two of the most significant years of a person’s life. There is so much growing and changing that happens.

Kayla and Timmy are both in the high school musical Hairspray. The show starts in two weeks. They both play high school students in the show. This is Timmy’s first time doing a school theater production. I think they have both had a good time doing the musical. Prepping for AP exams and the musical has been most of our lives for the past couple of months!

Most of the seventh graders have not been having a “birthday party” but have had friends over for their birthday. Aaron is planning on having some friends from school for a sleepover the night of his birthday.

As far as me, work has been fairly routine. I started a new position a little over a year ago and there have been a lot of new things to learn. Since I am mostly self-employed, most of my time has been devoted to getting up to speed on things. The people that have been doing this work for a while do not spend as much time on it and do other work also. I am at the point where I am looking to branch out into other areas to generate more income, while still maintaining what I am doing now.

The kids and I had a sweet moment about a week ago. We were at the park around sunset. We saw a plane pass by the moon. I remembered that when the twins were about kindergarten age and Aaron was around two or three we had a similar experience at the park. The kids were concerned the plane was going to hit the moon. I told the kids about this while we were at the park. They didn’t really remember it but thought it was cute.

I am going to catch up with everybody now. It has been three months since my last real entry, a very long time. I hope everyone is having a nice start to May.
