Sitting in the early evening warmth on 4th I could plainly see why Edward Abbey called this place home. What did he say? Something about living in a city where all the young women are half naked all year round? (ASU is nearby.) Paraphrasing, but you get the gist.

Back at the motel I changed and headed to the hot tub and pool for a bit.

Back in the room I watched youtube with my earbuds in. Should have brought my headphones to completely obliterate the TV blather. Next time.

In the morning we packed up and drove around to the front of the motel and went to the breakfast bar. It was very well stocked.

When I checked us out I asked about the rewards points system. It is ten points for every dollar spent, before taxes. So, for instance, our one night stay earned us 950 points. To get the room we had it would have cost 11,000 points. So, about 10 to 12 nights to get a free room. I also picked up a directory of their locations.

We drove over to pick up Desert Rose and we headed downtown. And of course we were too early and most everything was closed. We tried the swap meet and the same thing there. We ended up at a Denny’s and just sat and chatted. (Oh, nevermind me girls, I’m fine!)

Yeah, it was all good. I think Mom really liked her. I think Mom was a little baffled how we had just met but were talking about old times and things years gone.

Back at her house, after much hug, and “Later’s!”, Mom and I headed back home. Sans Emma Pennyworth, I just drove north, then a little jog west, and there was our highway home.

I was back in my room lying in my bed listening to NPR by 2:30pm.

The car seems to be alright after the repairs. It only took ¾’s tank of gas down there and back. About 250 to 300 miles. Which is equivalent to a month’s worth for us. I still need to figure out the highway MPG. I’ve done all city driving in that car.

Back to my routine of doing basically nothing I watched episode 1 of season 2 of Westworld Sunday night. And Season 2 of Handmaid’s Tale is coming out tomorrow night. That should be awesome.

I took Mom to Nikki’s today for a hair appointment. And I let Nikki talk me into one also. What the hell, it’s been a year since she last cut it. Why not?

Four days and a wakeup and we’ll be heading out of here.
