what a difference a comma can make
“I’m standing still” versus
“I’m standing, still” you see
sometimes they’re the same thing
right now they’re the same thing for me
I’m standing still, still, I’m standing, still
regardless of everything else, I am standing
I may only be standing in place but I am not fallen
I may be dead on my feet but here I am anyway
punch-drunk in the face of fate’s assault
but fuck you, fate, here I am
not falling down, just to spite you
I am standing still but
I’m standing, still
getting kicked around but
not down on the ground and
that’s an accomplishment
in and of itself
still
