The word “Fantasy” in four different world languages. I find the similarities interesting since those are not at all languages that share a common “umbrella.” You have Slavic, Germanic, Romantic, and Nordic. (Czech, German, French, Norwegian).
My shoulders and thighs could use about a gallon of Icy Hot right now. But that isn’t exactly different or unique.
Name of the entry is because I am thinking about what I would be doing today if I wasn’t at work. Wife is at her parents as her father’s birthday was yesterday (and he was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer), so today would be a glimpse into what my days would be like “normally” without the job.
So… with the job… I threw my alarm clock and didn’t get out of bed until 8:00. Which left no time for food, shower, or anything other than rapidly getting dressed and driving through Girls State Basketball traffic. Some of you who know me may be asking 8:00? WTF? because I usually like to be at work by 8:00. To that I merely say… my bosses are rarely in the office at 9:00. As I have already put in my notice… I no longer feel the need to “hold myself to my standards of professionalism” and instead will simply fall back on whatever I can get away with while I’m here. Not that I’m turning in shitty work or not trying hard… just that I’m not going to be pulling 8:00 to 19:00 shifts or killing myself to cover for other people’s poor choices. Of course… I really wish I’d taken a shower today. WITH the job… I’ll be in the office working, or trying to, until about 17 (5) or 18 (6) today. Then go home and try and scrounge up food for dinner if Wife hasn’t returned home.
Without the job?
Sleep until I wake up.
Go workout (including weights, cardio, and cool down).
Long hot shower.
Begin cooking a healthy dinner.
Reading a few chapters in a book.
Writing a little (whether to finishing something or just to write).
Video Games.
Serving Dinner.
That is the “fantasy” and… honestly… the truth? Compared to what I’m doing for the firm these days, that sounds like a much better use of my time. For my health, my hobbies, my life. I can see how someone would look at that and start screaming “SLACKER! LOSER!” but… chill. It is temporary. It is about (1) catching up on sorely missed sleep; (2) getting into shape and going through physical therapy to have better control over flare ups; (3) eating healthier to be in better health; (4) re-connecting with my mind and talents without a Fight or Flight stress response being an over-riding input.
