1- Chloe has the flu. Yup, the flu got her! She went to bed Wednesday with a tickle type cough, I gave her cough medicine and she was good. Woke up at 2am coughing, checked and she had no fever. Gave her water and more cough medicine. She climbed in my bed at 6:15am with a fever and saying her body, belly and head hurt. She coughed up phlegm. I gave her Motrin and had a family friend watch her while I ran to a meeting. I called out the rest of the day and we went to urgent care. They had a 2hr wait, so they sent me to her pediatrician because she had a cancelation 2 minutes later. We were seen within 20-30 minutes. She was diagnosed with the flu (they couldn’t do a swab because they ran out of them due to a nation wide shortage). We went home, alternating Motrin and Tylenol. She took a 3hr nap and drank a good amount of water. She barely ate. When Mike got home from work, I ran and got her Tamiflu and chocolate pudding. She HATES the Tamiflu but didn’t throw up or have diarrhea yet from it. Made it through last night with fever reducers, cough medicine and Tamiflu. Her nose is extremely snotty this morning, she is eating a little and drinking some. She’s cranky and even with Motrin/Tylenol alternating she is still between 101.5-103 with her fever. Praying this is over fast.
2- I’m now terrified I’m going to be the next flu victim. I don’t feel great (most likely from lack of sleep) and I just don’t need to be sick next. Mike is terrified he will get it, so he is avoiding Chloe at all costs. Wonderful parenting.
3- So not quite sure what’s going on with the elementary school job. Sounds like she is going to try to get permission to put a long-term sub in the new position till graduation, then switch me over. That is ideal for me. I truly hope the school board approves that plan.
4- We’ve had a few suicidal students this past week or two. One is in a mental hospital for treatment, the other is in school and currently messaging me through a school messenger system asking when I can be there and can I get psych to come speak to her. Ugh. I hate this for them.
