Did that and other happenings in Watching Life Fly By

- I did the Polar Plunge. Our team raised over $4000 (goals was $2100). 5 of us ran into a freezing cold ocean on Saturday in support of Special Olympics. It was amazing and inspiring. I hope to do it again next year.
- Still not pregnant, but saw my ob/gyn. He wants to start me on meds this coming cycle for 5-6 cycles. If I’m not pregnant by then he’d like me to see a new reproductive specialist.
- I interviewed for an elementary position in my district. It’s the school my daughter will attend for K-5, and even possibly Pre-K this fall if she gets a spot. I thought I really wanted to go back to elementary, however, I was disappointed during the interview. I felt like the principal was quite disorganized. I hear wonderful things about her, but I’m still not sure. The other thing is my planning period would go from 100 minutes to 35 minutes or so. That seems crazy to me. I know they have shorter planning periods and less paperwork, but that seems drastic. I will hear within 2 weeks if I am being offered the position, but I’m honestly not sure what I will do if I am.
- Our school is bringing in metal detectors for the remaining basketball games this season. We have had several threats from another school. Students from that school are suspected of two shootings this weekend related to basketball in a neighboring county. We are taking precautions to ensure the safety of our students and staff. I love the basketball games, but my daughter and I will not be attending anymore this season. Especially not attending with the fact that I don’t have to work anymore of them this season. I just can’t risk being there with my little girl, regardless of my students enjoying the audience. Who harms/kills others over a high school basketball game? I know people place large bets on our games, but that’s insane.
