virtue signalling in poetry

I don’t give a damn if someone is being virtuous
to be seen for it or if they’re being virtuous in
saintly anonymity as long as you’re being virtuous
you can “virtue signal” all you want, I say
if that’s what you need for virtue, go for it
trying your best to do good in the world
is what’s important, no matter your
internal goddamned reason
help helps the helpless
that’s all
do good
brag about it after if you want
no sane or loving person cares
they just care what you do
