Here’s the thing about Squatting… it shouldn’t need to exist.
If you need a house for whatever reason, for however long you should be able to walk into a council office and be given the keys to one.
Everyone community should have a surplus of shared assets and they should be made available, not with evidence and paperwork over weeks… made available now… even to the .0001% who will wreck it and steal the copper.
It’s been proven time and time against absolutist approaches to housing is more economically efficent than reactive solution s and it is certainly more ethical.
Absentee landlords should have their property purchased as a cut rate due to their neglect (if at all).
Maintaining these properties should be as inherent to the social state as maintaining street lights and painting the post boxes.
Squatting law should really only exist for ravers to go legit and travelling families to secure their patches.
Empty store fronts should be granted on a peppercorn rent to socially minded organisations and local start ups.
There should also be a 24 hour bunkhouse, no charge no questions.
We can afford millions in PR schemes and billions in bailouts for anti union corporations yet we can’t afford basic humanity?
