better than we've done in poetry

maybe if we just all got frequent full-body massages like our pets
maybe we wouldn’t start wars and invent scam ride-sharing services
maybe we’d just stretch out and bat at rays of sunshine
like the more civilized animals of the world
maybe we just need more belly scratches, all of us
maybe we just need someone to get that little spot
right above the tail that make our legs kick crazy
then we wouldn’t open Wal-Mart super centres
then we wouldn’t start proxy wars for oil
maybe we’d just roll over on our backs
we’d stare up at the stars and
smile like we’re supposed to
