George’s cold/flu is better. At Last. He made an appearance at our Sunday meeting last night. For two years he has sat at the head table. This was his last time up there. Last time as chair. Now he is a trustee. I had to look that one up.

The meeting was bare…empty. From the usual 300 some folks, there were only 150 there. Many stayed home with the flu. I often heard things like, “I made it through my finals with Dayquil and Nyquil.” Only one man objected on the grounds that they both had 13 percent alcohol. Then again, he had been taken to the hospital. Another had been hospitalized with the flu just after heart surgery.

George slept all day on the 31st, and I read all day. There’s nothing better for the soul than to read and worry. This morning he woke up with a better voice, and took no additives. After sitting with him and watching the Rose Bowl parade this morning, I decided worry was useless.

I found two volunteers to help me get the 1000 books out of the Antique Center mall space. I am so grateful. I do have to go buy boxes. George can’t volunteer as he is the boss this week, so the ladies who offered to help I consider true angels.

Thanks to these ladies, it’s going to be a great start to the new year.
