The invitation. in A small but passable life.

Late yesterday afternoon when I was online I found out that it was 21 degrees with a wind chill of 8 degrees back in the Ozark’s. I had to text Daughter and tell her it was 70 degrees here. She text’d back and said, “That’s mean! My hands are numb!”. I wasn’t trying to be mean, I was just stating a fact.

I did manage to don cargo shorts and flip-flops and walk over to take a shower and shave yesterday.

I had a good evening at Rummikub. I actually won. It was a good time even though I was playing with three very serious players. I’m constantly amused by how the oldsters here take EVERYTHING serious.

I just received the official invite to (re) join the new OD. I am a Lifetime Member. I’m not sure how Bruce got my “real” email address. Maybe I had connected it to OD at some point. I may just go over to poke around a bit. I did download my diary before Bruce pulled the plug. But it was downloaded in bulk, to that gooblygook format. I guess now, maybe, I’d be able to download it into a readable format. But of course, all the Photobucket links are now dead.

I heard last week that the plug was pulled on AIM. Remember that? Does anyone even remember what IM stood for? All those banal conversations are now archived for all eternity.

I remember when I’d have three or four conversational windows opened up and then by mutual agreement we’d all move to one window. A group chat that spanned three or four continents.

And people still think websites are the real world.

Anyway, it is 1:17pm and 64 degrees outside. Not quite warm enough to lie by the pool. Maybe after a nap it will be.
