Super Bowl Sunday.
Those words mean nothing to me, as I am not a football fan at all. I couldn't care less who is playing, let alone who wins. So, today my plans consist of watching the puppy and kitten bowls and chilling on the couch. I am, however, DVR'ing the game so that I can fast forward and watch the commercials.
Since this is the first entry in any diary that I have written in a very long time, and since there may be people reading for the first time, let me introduce myself.
My name is Beth Johnson. I am a 39 (40 in September) year old married mother to two. My daughter, McKenzie Grace, is 12 (13 in October), and in the 6th grade. She 's already starting into her teen years, so I'm sure there will be plenty of entries about her. My son, Andrew James, is 6 (7 in September). He just started kindergarten this year, He's been doing very well, too. At the last parent teacher conference, I was told that he very well could be in a gifted program by the third grade if he keeps up the way he has been. I'm proud of both of my children. They have their moments, but overall, they are good, polite kids.
My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years. We have had our ups and downs, some of which have led to a temporary separation. The most recent being over the months of October-December 2013. He hasn't always been a very good husband, but then I haven't always been a very good wife, either. Bottom line is, we love each other and we love our family, and neither of us can picture ourselves without the other. I can already see him trying to change and work on his issues, and I hope he can see the same in me.
I graduated from college in December 2013 with my associates in science and a phlebotomy certificate. I applied for a phlebotomy position at the hospital, and I am waiting (and crossing my fingers for) a phone call to interview. I've kicked around the idea of going back some day, once the kids are grown, and possibly getting my RN license. I'm not entirely sure I want to, though. Right now all I see is the $53K in student loans over my head. I'd have to get that paid down before I could, in good conscience, go back to school.
I, along with my family and parents, currently live in Kanab, Utah. We moved to Utah in 2003, when McKenzie was a little over a year old. We lived in Kanab until December 2011, when I finally got tired of my daily 85 mile (each way) commute to school. We moved to St. George, which is where I went to school (Dixie State University) and we lived there until December 2013, when, during our most recent separation, I took our kids and moved back to Kanab with my parents. After Jim and I reconciled, it was decided that we would move back to St. George, where I would hopefully get a phlebotomy job and get some experience under my belt while at the same time saving money to move back to Illinois, where I am originally from.
That's really all I can think of to write right now...I will do my best to keep this up. I really missed writing.
~Beth
