I’m in Ames today. Another pain day, which is worrying. But it underlines a much more important issue. At my current Private Firm… a pain day, which slows my mind and body, is inexcusable and reprehensible. Because if I can’t be forced to focus 100% of my time on my work, then I am losing money for the firm! Well… the firm that doesn’t give me health insurance or time to see Doctors. So… you’re pissed that my health is degrading despite not helping me pay for pills and/or going to the doctors (like Chiropractors and Optometrists) that will help me get through pain and glaucoma?

With deep apologies to my wife… that was enough for me to schedule my interview. It isn’t perfect. There are certainly going to be some extreme problems in trying to figure out how to get there due to work… but that in itself acts as evidence of reason to leave. If I am not allowed to take a morning to go do something… even if/especially if I can promise to stay late that day to make sure I don’t miss any hours… then the only problem that exists is one of control. It isn’t about work hours if I can make them up. It is about having total control over your employees. Which I already knew. And was why I was looking for work anyway.

I just… I don’t want to make my work situation worse. And for christ’s sake… every decision I’ve made about my career since my FIRST LAW JOB has steadily been worse. Packing up to move away again and take yet another new job… Tiny Town was a failure. This Firm didn’t work out great. I guess I’m feeling a little gun shy.
