George visiting his mom and dad’s grave at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Armistice Day has expanded to cover all wars and all participants. In this militaristic nation, Veterans Day has expanded to fill the weekend. I wasn’t quite a success in the Army only fitting in when posted to Special Services. George could fire missiles at the enemy by punch card. That makes us laugh today. George’s dad worked hard to get B-25’s running over the Hump in Burma. My dad ran a desk at Fort Hood, Texas.

Here, the parades are today, and there are ceremony’s scattered everywhere. There’s fuss too. Down in the Gaslamp district last night, someone tried to fake it as a service member. Two sailors took him on; the fake went to jail and one sailor got stitches. Ya never know what’s going to happen.

I’d like to stop by the cemetery up the hill and pull the grass and leaves off Dale’s grave to say thank you. Perhaps walk just a few feet away to visit G’s folks too. I also need a new long, sleeved white T-shirt. Maybe we could visit JC Penney’s and see if they have one that’s not a die-early, rayon and spandex product. They might have discounts for old lady, not very successful, Army vets.

Sometimes you gotta laugh at yourself.

  • Himself: Looking forward to a quiet weekend.

  • Herself: We took Poolie her root beer float last night, and found her feeling slightly better. Work today…I sort. Achoo.

  • Reading: And old, DE Stevenson.

  • Captain Poolie: She has bacterial Pneumonia usually contracted in the Amazon. The antibiotic makes her ill.

  • Gratitude’s: That we have a quiet, unassuming weekend coming up.
