Winding down. in A small but passable life.

After my shave and shower yesterday I retired to my little room for a great afternoon nap. And The Moth Radio Hour on NPR. After leftovers for dinner I retired once more to my little room to watch my shows online. Grey’s Anatomy, Mr. Robot, You’re The Worst, and This Is Us. I’m all caught up now. Well, except for the latest episode of The Last Man on Earth.

And Shameless starts up again tonight!

This morning I was up an hour earlier than usual, at 7am. While I drank my coffee I used a leftover piece of the 5/8th’s (19/32nd’s?) plywood to knock together a little bookshelf to fit between my chair and my bed. It ended up with a top 12”X 9” with a height of 24”. The first shelf is 1 ½ inches off the floor. The next shelf is 10 ¾ inches high. The third is 18 ¾ inches high. So all three spaces are different sizes.

The shelf eliminated the clutter of different piles of stuff I’d had lying on the floor around my mattress when it was on the floor. With the mattress now on a 13 inch high platform all those piles were just underfoot, being stepped on every time I put my feet on the floor.

And yes, after sleeping on a mattress on the floor for two and a half years, two years in the attic and six months here, it definitely felt kind of weird to be sleeping a tad more than a foot off the ground. I think I dreamed last night about falling out of bed.

Give me a tent in the forest any time.

Or second best, a cozy bed in a van.

Anyway, I was finished with the shelves by noon. after a lunch of chicken nuggets I went to the pool to lounge for three hours. It would have been longer but the clouds moved in.

I forgot to mention. My Sis-in-law called last week trying to get a hold of Daughter to set up a rendezvous to retrieve my stuff out of Daughter’s storage unit as they are on their way out here. I told her she needn’t bother because Daughter had already brought it.

They, Daughter and Boyfriend and Brother and Sis-in-law may have passed each other going in opposite directions either on I-44 or I-40.

They were going to San Diego first, without stopping here, and then coming back by here.

Anyway, I’ve got leftovers for dinner.
