Survey, I suppose in Book Four: Ichi-no-Tani 2017

As I have been complaining too long, I wanted to do something different. Oh, I’m still complaining and unhappy. It is becoming more obvious to me that “Lawyer” may not have been the best choice for me. Even when we are representing the Plaintiff, I just look over the information and keep thinking “Just follow the fucking rules. How hard is that? Don’t be a greedy, deceptive jackhole and this kind of shit doesn’t have to happen!” Because… seriously… for a culture that is racist against NON-Chinese… they fuck each other over a lot! Seriously like… the whole concept seems to be “If screwing your neighbor increases your joy by 1%; it is worth it.” But… I have no idea what to do next. Working retail would be a huge waste… working at a call center would be… well, a bad idea. I almost feel, not for the first time, that I was made for something like Politics but I can’t break in.

Let’s talk about daily life

What time did you wake up this morning?
I so desperately didn’t want to come in to work this morning that I threw my phone when it went off at 5:30… I woke up at 8 instead.

What time would you wake up if you could sleep in as long as you like?
On the weekends, because my body is trying to make up for shit, I can sleep ‘til 1 or 2. But if I actually got adequate sleep during the week; my natural clock would wake me between 6 and 10.

What would your ideal morning consist of?
Ideal Scene- I wake up feeling refreshed at about 9:30, a fresh layer of snow on the ground and the sun in the sky. I have a nice cup of tea or hot cocoa with Wife and get a good hour’s worth of reading in.

What’s your favorite thing to do for exercise?
It used to be swimming, but swimming takes so much time I can’t do it anymore

Do you like your job?
No. I fundamentally dislike the idea of being required to sit in an office for 10 hours a day and only getting paid around $90 a day. Further, I dislike being required to make 5 hour round trips (as I will have to do next week) just to work with a client I can’t understand (I don’t speak Chinese) to fight a case that has no chance of winning (Caught Red Handed means there’s nothing I can do!)

What’s your idea of a perfect evening?
A nice walk through a crisp evening air to a little bistro/restaurant that isn’t too far and isn’t too expensive. Meeting up with friends and family for drinks, conversation, and fellowship.

It’s the end of the day, time for an adult beverage. What do you have?
Usually Whiskey or Rum. Whiskey a lot more of late. Rum is for happier occasions.

What do you wear to sleep?
Nothing

How big is your bed?
Queen-sized.

What did you want to be when you were a kid?
An actor or a lawyer

If you had a chance to switch jobs and be what you wanted to be when you were a kid, instead of what you’re doing now, would you?
I tried being an actor, it didn’t suit me. I’m trying to be a lawyer and… well… yeah

How old were you the last time you went trick or treating?
Probably around 13

What was your favorite childhood Halloween costume?
Probably “Army Man” because I would have my entire face painted

What was the most memorable present you ever received?
Might Max playset. Memorable because it was the first time I ever received something from my X-Mas wishlist… and it actually wasn’t all that fun after I got it

What was your favorite tv show when you were a kid?
The X-Men Cartoon on FOx Kids

Do you have a cherished childhood memory?
The first time I played a MAJOR show. I was playing Winthrop Paroo in a parody of the Music Man and we put it on for this HUGE Regional Conference of Clergy. I was maybe 7 or 8 and it was the largest crowd I’d ever performed in front of.

What was your favorite tv show when you were a teenager?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Spin City

Did you play any sports?
As a preteen, I played all of them.... but in High School, I really only did Competitive Swimming

How about any instruments?
I played the Cello

Were you a rebellious teen, or a follow-the-rules type?
SUPER follow the rules type until Senior Year when I started dating the crazy scary lady who tried to kill me

What’s the craziest thing you did as a teen?
I’d like to say it is something wild when I visited Germany, but I was very well behaved on that trip. The craziest thing I ever did was use a lunch break my Senior Year to check on my (crazy) girlfriend who had phoned in sick to class. When I got to her door, she was wearing my favorite leather trench coat and nothing else.

Did you enjoy being a teenager?
If I’d known then what I know now; it would have been a far more pleasurable experience

Were you a member of any clubs in school?
Thespians, Mimes, V-Tech, Swimming, Orchestra

Cakes or pies?
We seem to be a Cake family; but I can certainly enjoy a good pie.

Burgers or hot dogs?
Burgers. There is just so much more you can do with a burger, cooking wise

Shepard’s Pie

It depends on the company

What’s your favorite chain restaurant?
Pizza Ranch… because the more bullshit I experience in my present position, the more I can feel myself romanticizing things in Tiny Town that I actually enjoyed

Ribs, most likely

Probably Italian

THAT is a lot of money. I would design the house I’ve always wanted, pay off my bosses’ student loans as a “Thanks but I’m out”, FINALLY take my Wife on vacation, and start investing in business ideas I’ve always wanted to see take off
