a rolling stone slowly erodes
losing itself to the road as it goes
a rolling stone gathers no moss
that is to say rather
it gathers loss
the stone slowly sheers off
thin layers on itself
leaves it to the ages
no good for its health
or the stone can remain
and be buried in green
trading off longevity
for never being seen
a rolling stone can never grow moss
but moving or not
each one bears a cost
