broken chairs in poetry

the end is coming but you’ll just
adjust to whatever horrors or wonders
happen to come next
you’ll be someone else then
but you’ll survive, I guess
might be trains or
bombs may rain or
things might just break down
but once you’ve acclimated it’s
just another day around the town
that’s the curse of
being human
everything’s up
for subsuming
we’ll make all things normal
if it means we stay alive
bees give up their stingers
with their guts attached
protect the hive
ruins are just building blocks
depending on your eyes
but all right
you can do your thing
if the land dissolves
I won’t grow no wings
if the sky falls
I’ll pack up my things
if the sea boils
I’m not drinking fire
if being cruel is the only way to stick around
I haven’t the desire
all right?
you can have it if you want it
if you need it if you flaunt it
you can keep it I’m too tired, okay?
all right
all right all right all right all right all right
