I'm envious. in A small but passable life.

Mom went to go play with her friends yesterday at 1pm. Less than an hour later Lillie from across the street called and said that mom had passed out at the table. She was bringing Mom’s car to me. Ten minutes later Lillie showed up in her golf cart. She said she couldn’t find Mom’s car keys. She gave me a ride to the activity center.

The EMT’s arrived at the same time I did. There were half dozen oldsters there and they couldn’t agree on how long Mom was out. Somewhere between five and fifteen minutes. She ended up being loaded into an ambulance for a ride to the hospital.

I didn’t go until this morning, after talking to her on the phone. I took her hospital “to go” bag to her.

She now has a lung doctor. A new addition to the cadre. I met him this morning.

I went up and had dinner with her this evening. I bought a room service meal for $5. It was pretty good.

After a multitude of tests and scans they still don’t know why she passes out.

At least now I can forbid her from driving, once again. I’ll probably have to hide the car key.

So yeah, maybe tomorrow she’ll be able to come home.

I did get the official DNR and health care power of attorney entered into her chart.

I’m afraid I may have irritated some hospital employees. I’m not familiar with the protocols. I’d just assumed that someone just sitting or standing around with their thumb up their ass was available to assist. No. But they do have time to go look for someone who’s specific job it is to do what you need done. Whatever.

Daughter called today. We talked for quite awhile. Next week during her days off she’s going out to the river to solo for three days. She’ll camp where I camped for months, when I was living in a van down by the river. I am envious.

Anyway, I’ll sit here and wait on the phone to ring.
