My first entry here.

I heard 3 days ago that Pete Seeger had died. I am a fugitive from Open Diary and I went there to write about this, found O D was closing and here I am.

I loved Pete Seeger in the 60s. My mum and I were always singing Little Boxes, especially on railway journeys when we were travelling through endless suburbs.

I used to say that the one thing I wasn't going to do with my life was get married, have a family and live in a little box! It's ironic that I now am married with a family and live in a house on a hillside which is one of a row of six that all look the same. But we are not in a suburb, we are in the country and we have beautiful views of the Golden Valley and the Black Mountains.

RIP Pete.

Little boxes on the hillside,

Little boxes made of ticky tacky,

Little boxes, little boxes,

Little boxes all the same.

There's a green one and a pink one

And a blue one and a yellow one,

And they're all made out of ticky tacky

And they all look just the same.
