I thought I’d have a day of calm. A day of sitting in my chair reading Huxley. Listening to NPR. No such luck. Mom wanted to go. Somewhere.

Went to Bed, Bath & Beyond. Spent $41. We to Lowe’s. Found the frig we’d been looking for. Spent $554. It’ll be delivered tomorrow.

Stopped at Sonic to grab lunch to take home. Spent $22.

I know, it’s Mom’s money and her life. But I really don’t get buying shit you really don’t need. I’m still finding crap in that little trailer that Mom doesn’t even know who, what, where, or why. And I get rid of it.

I almost destroyed the new range last night. Apparently the cook pot I was boiling pasta in wasn’t meant for the high-tech stove top and melted. Melted! I didn’t think it was an enameled pot but I guess it was. I managed to clean most of it off. There’s just a little bit left.

Back to B,B&B. There was a stainless steel pot & lid the size of the now unusable one. $79.95! Mom actually was saying she wanted it. No. I told her there were better ones at the thrift store for a few bucks.

It’s that kind of shit that really bothers be.

For years and years I’ve lived with very little money and I’ve agonized over every nickel I have ever talked myself into spending.

I heard it on the radio. NPR.

The term was “Be pleasantly stupid”.

Be pleasant. Be stupid. Relax. Enjoy life.

Mom wants to piss away money? Fine. That’s wonderful!

Mom wants to drive around aimlessly with no plan in 108 heat? Fuck yeah! Let’s go!

Anyway, I’m about halfway through the Huxley novel. And there was an email from the library saying there’s another novel waiting for me.
