to lose touch with reality
you must have first once had it
if you were always afloat
awash in a sea of privilege
luxury yes-men comfort wealth
if you never needed to know
how much milk or bread cost
how much your car cost
how here down on struggle street
we are all alike regardless of
sex gender race faith whatever
if the thick fingers of the real
never brushed against your face
was never known in the first place
you can’t lose touch with reality
you’re just the same shitty asshole
you were in the tower your daddy bought you
as you are occupying the White House illegal
not senile or demented
not some new madness evented
just the same douchebag as ever
with far more dangerous levels
to pull at like a crazed ape
as out of touch with reality
as he had ever been, utterly
since the day he was born
