Holiday Non-Plans, Vacay or Not, Selling the Kids' Toys in Day by Day

I’m not sure there’s much to write about. We have no plans for the 4th of July. People stopped inviting us to functions when Nick passed away. I can’t blame them…who wants a couple of Debbie Downers at their party? Except two years have passed, so we are, I think, a bit more on the upswing (no guarantees, though, because you never know what someone is going to say). Losing a child is a very isolating event, I’m finding. It doesn’t “get better” and time does not heal. You learn to swallow hard and live with it.
I’ll go to the store and pick up something to throw on the grill and maybe later we can sit in the hot tub and watch the neighbor’s fireworks display. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
I think it’s time to plan a road trip. We just collected on a big job, there’s not much work lined up for the next month (waiting for a couple of large commercial jobs to get to the point when we enter the picture), and I have several Best Western gift cards and several gas cards. I’m just not sure where to go. I’d love to go far north to escape the heat, but don’t want to be gone a full week or spend a lot of money since we’re heading to Boston with the kids in October. I know THAT will be an expensive trip. Lodging is pricey and you know I have to eat my fill of boiled lobstah. If we don’t go, I can use the funds for luxury Boston hotels, but the desire to escape the heat is great, too.
I just listed all the kids’ Lego sets on ebay. I started some today, some for tomorrow and some for Sunday, to see if one day is better than another. So far, I’ve sold 3 items, two of them Wedgewood, so I’m not exactly salesperson of the year. Still, Legos seem to sell well, so we’ll see.
I caught my thumb nail in the dishwasher and it ripped partway off 1/4” below the quick. The lesson learned: if I’m ever tortured by pulling out fingernail, I’m singing like a canary! I left the nail as is and have bandaged it as tightly as I could and hopefully I’ll be careful with it until it grows out enough that I can cut it off.
Wishing everyone in the States a happy, safe holiday. I’m praying that the GOP’s continued offenses do not cause a terrorist attack. Our president seems to have the emotional maturity of a ten year old boy, yet the Tea Party still says it’s better than the qualified, experienced, and far more knowledgeable Hillary. I’m stunned that the Tea Party WOMEN are silent about Trump’s obsession with women’s menstrual cycles. Maybe we should start a campaign about men’s nocturnal emissions? Nope. I refuse to lower myself to the crybaby’s level. On the other hand, I am amused by Melania’s declaration that he WILL “hit back in defense” when TRUMP started the bullying! They may be wealthy, but they are still nothing more than White Trash.
All I know to do is keep trying to make my little corner of the world better, so I plug away with the non-profit and watch my pineapples grow. The last one was as sweet as candy!
