Three weeks ago, I had a major blood nose. I ended up in hospital. I was just about to go on stage to sing. Dave was announcing me, when I touched my nose and looked down and it was literally pouring out like someone turned on a tap. I am not exaggerating. I ran back to dressing room, but by this time I was drenched. Someone said later that I looked like a serial killer had been at me. Thank God I couldn’t see myself. Owen and Jen covered for me by doing their number; the show must go on etc.. Someone called an ambulance and hauled me off to Knox Emergency. But this time I was choking and swallowing it all. Yuck.
My gorgeous son was waiting for me. Jen had run my daughter and she rang Chris. I have never been so glad to see someone in all my life. I wasn’t scared it just all seemed so surreal. It started at three and didn’t stop until 6pm. I was very weak as you could imagine.
So I went to my own docs the next day and he ordered an antibiotic and blood work, told me not to do anything for 24 hours which I happily agreed to. I could hardly get out of bed I was so weak.
However this week I was still bringing up stuff. I wont go into the grossness of it all, but had to do with my nasal passage and blood. Oh yuck.
Went back to the doc. Saw a new gal and she ordered sputum tests, and 6 new blood tests, plus a ‘gold blood test’ whatever that is. So I am thinking Oh bugger don’t tell me it is something like the big C. My dad had tuberculosis, so maybe it has been dormant You know my brain went crazy.
She sent me off to specialist and I got in straight away and he was just fabulous. Casual, chatty, friendly and after a Endoscopy, which wasn’t that pleasant, showed me how my blood nose has accumulated behind my nasal passages and all I need to is clean them out with saline. Boy was I relieved. I have noticed the difference already.
I also had my ears tested, I had been noticing a difference in hearing levels. My grandkids have been joking about me saying pardon all the time for quite a while. So I have mild to moderate hearing loss and I will be fitted with aids next week. I have freebie aids in at the moment and I can’t believe the difference. I can even hear my jeans swishing as I walk. I can’t remember the last time I heard that. And now Buddy cannot sneak up on me, because I can hear his claws on the kitchen floor. I never heard that before.
I went to Ear. Nose and Throat Victoria and the service if received from the Nose Specialist to the gorgeous gal who tested me was just terrific.
Plus Katie is now allowed to walk now and then on a frame, it made a very interesting week one way or the other.
