This may be ridiculously inappropriate and I do not wish to become some Doom Sayer Depressing Man but.... I have the very clear, very unpleasant feeling that Michael J Fox is going to die soon. I hope I’m wrong. I hope that in twelve years, I look back on this laughing because Mr. Fox is still kicking. But… I just have this… gray cloud, heavy heart feeling.
I’ve always and never been the happy go lucky kid. I think that is why I gravitated towards the likes of Robin Williams growing up. The people that are the most LOOK AT ME AND LAUGH are usually the most I’M NOT HAPPY and that was true of me even as a young child. I remember… I could not have been older than 12 at the time… and the TV was on. ABC for some odd reason but there you have it. And it was Spin City. And I watched it and laughed. And I remember thinking clearly, solidly, uniquely… that I had not done that in a long time. I had not genuinely laughed at a television show in a long time. And Spin City… was able to do that. The Michael J Fox years of Spin City still mean a great deal to me. And I thank Mr. Fox, the entire cast, and Bill Lawrence for that show.
Of course… it is me and Time Travel, so my first real interactions (on screen) with Mr. Fox was via Back to the Future. But I tried to see him in everything! I mean… Back to the Future, Teen Wolf, Family Ties, Secret of My Success, Doc Hollywood, Life with Mikey, For Love or Money, The American President, Homeward Bound, Frighteners, Mars Attacks!
Plus… he measures at 5‘4. A giant of a man that I’m actually taller than. A rare thing for me.
I hope I’m wrong. I hope this is just… me being a strange funk and mixing my own signals. Either way, I intend to watch a lot of Spin City when I get home tonight. Wherever you are tonight, however you are feeling… I hope you are well, Mike. I hope you are as well as you can be and I hope you are with those you love.
