Split Second in Book Four: Ichi-no-Tani 2017

This morning… bah. Just today… bah.

Didn’t want to go into work so I didn’t show up until 9. Still beat the bosses there by an hour.
Did a lot but just… chicken with head cut off stuff. Got 3 new cases; tried to fix a few other cases; closed out 2 cases. I love helping the victims of Human Trafficking but (rightly) the bosses keep saying “We’re a business and these people don’t have any money” so… when helping them means we’re spending hours and hours of time; that is damaging to the business from their perspective. So… even though none of the charitable organizations want to transport our client from her current shelter to the new shelter we set up for her (where they’ll actually teach her English and give her counseling and help her find work)… they want one of our attorneys to transport. Meaning… 4.6 hours just of driving. Which… the Firm does not want to authorize. So I was trying to fix that; but (thankfully) White Boss has decided to start making phone calls to get things working. And… I know my job is to make their lives easier and everything but… yeah. My priority here is the client. Your priority is the business. More than happy to let you take care of this issue.

This week COULD get me my first good billable week. I’m currently at 13.8 hours with a long meeting still to come tonight. Which means, likely, I’d only need 5 hours or so for the next two days total. Of course… anything could happen. That could be easy or impossible. We’ll see, I suppose.
