cursive in poetry

cursive was designed
to overcomplicate language
to make it so ornate and fiddly and
detail-oriented time consuming where
the only way to get it “right”
would be to have the time, money and privilege
to practice and perfect such a
meaningless and tedious form

cursive is pure classist advantage-signalling
no hard-working poor person would
have the time to use it “properly” and
no starving shiftless art-bum would have
the money to hire the instruction to
learn it in its most haughty configuration

this is certainly a feature not a bug
this is an intended effect of the
terrible hell-beast “cursive”

whether it was invented
by middle-class scribes
trying to protect their trade
behind unnecessary flourishes or
by rich assholes trying to prove
they have all the time in the world
to learn how to do flowery useless
shit like how to write in cursive
I don’t know which but
this much is clear:

fuck cursive
fuck cursive
fuck cursive
