verse one

yeah the sky got dark
and the clouds turned gray
it was turning into one
less-than-beautiful day
yeah the monsters got loose
without an ounce of scruples
and we all got sold off for a
fistful of rubles

verse two

yeah the sun got replaced
with a big orange pig
four horsewomen skeletons
all in blonde wigs and
yeah we looked all around
for some hero to save us
but they’d all gone and died
or took residence in Vegas

chorus one

if Bowie were here
he would’ve eased right through it but
Bowie’s gone and we gotta still do it
yeah alla the cool kids are gone
but us leftovers gotta carry on

verse three

yeah the wolves rose up
and the moon turned to blood
they took away our health care
and they outlawed love
yeah they took the truth
and they cast it as a joke
underneath their fedoras
no eyes just vaping smoke

chorus two

and if Prince were here
he would’ve eased right through it but
Prince is gone and we gotta still do it
yeah alla the cool kids are gone
but us leftovers gotta carry on

bridge, slowly building to a crescendo

so the end of days rolled up
in a bad wig atop a bag of pus
when no knight in armor came
we finally realized
shit, son, might as well be us…

chorus three

if Dylan were here
he would’ve eased right through it but
he’s got commercials to film so we gotta still do it
yeah alla the cool kids are gone
but us leftovers gotta carry on

yeah alla the cool kids and heroes are gone
but us leftovers…
but us leftovers…
but us motherfuckers still left behind
us fuckers gotta carry on
cha-cha-CHA
