We got 6 inches of rain, if not more (the gauge is only 6 inches) the past week.
Needless to say we got flooded. Poor P had to run out in the pouring rain to move the tractor and the tow mower out of the hay barn. The house is on high ground, but the big barn went under pretty deep. In one of the pictures, I noticed that I couldn’t see the fence running the property. I estimated 6 feet of water. P corrected me when she told me that the fence was 8 f high. So.. yeah, It got pretty deep.

They’re calling for another 2-4 inches of rain the next couple of days. Town is already flooded in places. Roads closed, even the trains can’t get through because the Missouri river is over them.

We haven’t crested yet.

Now, I know I’m a paranoid freak and all, but no one seems too concerned tbh. I mean, yeah, they are, but after what they all went through in the past (I think it was ‘93?) this is nothing. The water is already gone here on the property… until the rain starts again, but no biggie… kinda.

Seriously though. You watch the video of the pictures taken yesterday and they have happy old timey music playing, and at the end they say “we’re still open!” or something. jeez.

creek1
one picture of my “little creek” that runs behind the house. It does this a lot though.

creek2
little creek again.

flood1
One of the corn/soy fields by the house. Again, it floods… oh probably once a year, but the water just came up fast this time. P took a drive around the property (the road separates that field from ours) and there was nothing. The next morning we woke up to the water being as high as it got.

wut

I seriously hate photobucket. did I already post this?

Ok, in front is the horse barn, in the back is the “big barn”.

This is the best picture. Our friends went for a drive to look at the waters. got a good shot of our big barn. the 8 foot fence runs right along the tree line. So you can see how deep it was.

Now, nothing. Just muddy fields.

I feel horrid about everyone else in Missouri that is going through yet another flood. I posted something on fb about a Mc’D that was just rebuilt in ‘15 because of the floods in ‘14.

I’ll save my whining for another entry.
