Yes is no in My Poetry Slams

I had learned
That taking turns
Didn’t mean a thing
No need to sing
Just let it hurt
You should assert
They tell you
That one and one is two

But red is blue and lies are true

If playing nice
Added spice
To this dreary life
Wouldn’t we all
Drop the knife
We use to backstab
Go ahead and grab
Your piece of the pie
There’s no rhyme or
Reasons why

But yes is no and one is zero

Try to protect
Ourselves from pain
Leaves us wrecked
With safety stains
Freedom for security
Means nothing at all
If independence meets obscurity.
