Run Run Run Runaway in Everyday Ramblings

We are at the beach! It is sunny and raining all at the same time. It has been like this for a couple of weeks, warm and cold, wet and dry all at the same time.

I usually walk to the train station but because of the situation with my back I walked early this morning just after sunrise in the neighborhood listening to my Music and History audio program with no weight and then I took Uber to the train station with my pack and electronic devices. Nice driver.

Apparently the Uber app works in Moscow and Paris, just the same as it does in one’s home city. The technology is amazing to me.

At the train station a very pleasant older man just started talking to me and we had a nice visit. He had been up in Portland getting his lungs checked out at the VA Hospital. He is a retired army medic, served in Vietnam and a long tour in Iraq, now he has pleurisy. I liked him.

Such a practical guy. When Portland became too expensive to live in on his pension he moved south to a college town where there was everything he needs but much less expensive. But he does have to take the train or bus up for medical care.

I so admire people who have that ease that they can strike up a congenial conversation just about anywhere.

Kes and I had a lovely lunch and played with Henry and Jack and then we packed up and drove out here. We haven’t seen anyone on the beach since we got here. Henry ate one of his toys recently and they are watching him carefully to make sure no harm comes to him. Silly teenage boy cat. He is such a long sleek cutie.

Most Honorable won’t be able to join us until Saturday. That is sad.

We are very low key on food this trip but we did go on a vegetable shopping binge the other night to prepare. We had roast parsnips and carrots with our scrambled eggs for supper this evening.

We have three more blissful days out here walking and reading and chatting and practicing yoga and watching shore birds.

And not feeding Patience and Bob, the two Western Gulls you see in the picture.

So nice to have a break! I feel very privileged to have this opportunity.

And grateful too. :)
