Last night, Wife and I put a lot of work into the Apartment. We’re about 98% sure that the Main Bedroom is taken care of. We are around 78% finished with the Living Room. Maybe almost done with the Spare Room. Guest room is a total mess. But we worked hard and… so hard, in fact, that we had to order food instead of cook. Pizza at 9:00 at night. Yeah. Really healthy.
Which led, somehow, to me not at all hearing my alarm this morning. I woke up at 9 a.m. Shit. Got dressed in a hurry, bolted out the door, and got into my car. Just in time for White Boss to text me… asking if I was coming in and if I was safe. Texted him back and said I had to get fuel (tank on E, literally on E) and was on my way. Baka (me).
So… unshowered and already sweating (and farting pizza the whole time)… I race to the office. Soon as I get there; I realize that it is super very hot in the office. Then we take a walk to the courthouse… and walk around a few other places. So I’m sweating… and sweating… and sweating. And our AC in the office isn’t even on. So… yeah. Sweat is the word of the day.
As for work? Motion and Research. I was instructed to research an issue that… well, it is certainly out of my previous line. Researching a Shareholder Agreement whereby shareholders wish to sell Stocks above par value. I’m so in the dark that I don’t even know what the word “par value” means. lol
(Of course… as I wait for a dozen Investopedia articles to load… my mind wanders. And when my mind wanders, it usually wanders to If the world were perfect concepts. IF THE WORLD WERE PERFECT… I’d be in better shape, have more time, and more knowledge. Duh.)
RANDOM STATEMENT: Two movies I could watch every day and still enjoy? Tombstone (love Doc Holiday) and Grosse Pointe Blank.
Not at all random statement: What I don’t know about Shareholder Agreements, Corporate Law, and selling stocks could fill a dozen large libraries. And again I think “I wish I knew more! I wish there was someone I could call for the answers!” But then… there’s the rub, eh. If there was someone I could call for the answers… then why wouldn’t the client just call them for answers? We’re supposed to be the ones giving answers. It is like realizing you are an adult, lol.
HOLY HELL Securities laws… seriously… holy hell! So much. I was asked to research and answer a “simple” question… I’m thinking there’s no such thing in this type of law. Unless I’m horrifically overthinking things… which, of course, well might be the case. Ufda. Gimme a divorce, a crime, a juvenile… even though I haven’t done divorce or defense… I’m confident I can handle it. Corporate Law and Immigration? VERY different, though lucrative, beasts. I need to learn them; but… wow. Lots to learn. And therein lies its own interesting issue, actually. There is lots to learn. But I’m still not “getting my hands dirty” kind of learning (except in Immigration Law). DON’T GET ME WRONG! The first time I’m required to write a contract, draft a will, or establish articles of association… my anxiety is going to explosively decimate my heart. But then I’ll know how to do it. Reading Practice Manuals… while helpful… isn’t the same. It reminds me of learning to play the cello… and why I wasn’t brilliant at it. I found the fundamentals boring and pointless. I could practice the fundamentals (and did) for 20 minutes a day but if I didn’t practice perfect then I wouldn’t get them down perfectly. And especially with my Trump-like freakishly small hands… my D String F Sharp is still never in tune. And since I never got that I never even got to approach trying to figure out best practices for the aggressively high 7th position notes. HOWEVER… I was still in the Honor Orchestra when we toured Austria because… give me a song, even a hard song, and I will dig in and make it work. That’s me. I struggle with the fundamentals… and if I don’t get those right, I honestly don’t build a solid foundation that will allow me to excel. But even if I struggle with the fundamentals… I’ll work my ass off to get something right for performance.
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT
I still have not gotten my hair cut nor have I used the apartment’s work out facility. I INTEND to do those things tonight but… honestly… who knows. I intended entirely to do that yesterday. But the haircut place said it would be a 90 minute wait and I got home around 7, 7:30 and helped with the apartment. Tonight? Wife works until 10. There is a possibility that I could get those things done. But, as often is the case now that I’m in the private sector… I have no idea when I’ll be finished here tonight.
