I finished reading “Insane Clown President: Dispatches from the 2016 Circus” by Matt Taibbi.
Two quotes from the book:
“America has been trending stupid for a long time.”
“A lot of American culture is just dumb slobs cheering on other dumb slobs.”
There were many other salient quotes but those were the ones I chose to write down to remember.
As soon as I finished that book Liam Dog and I walked to the library to return it and check out the book waiting, which was “Infernal Parade” by Clive Barker. It was a novella so I was able to read it in one sitting yesterday. A nice read.
I have four books remaining on my “hold” list. And three of them haven’t even been assigned call numbers yet, that’ s how new they are. And the other one I’m 7 out of 8 holds and it is an eleven hundred pager so it may be a bit.
In the meantime I’m re-reading another novel I read back in 2000. Where did seventeen years go.
And speaking of years going. I google street viewed the street I lived on from 1963 to 1974. I guess the most remarkable still recognized thing was the apartments that were built after the houses across the street were moved out. They were very cheaply and shoddily built and I find it remarkable that nearly fifty years later they are still standing.
And our old house is still there. After 111 years it is still standing (it was built in 1906!). Almost unrecognizable with the add-ons, but still there. It was sitting on a quarter acre lot when we lived in it. Now the lot has been split in half and a new house sits in the old front yard, and took the old address. Dad would be mortified. So the old house doesn’t even have its old address. The address is now the street behind with a new driveway and garage. And the new front door looks like it enters through the old dining room.
Anyway, things look the same out this window here. No mobs on the street yet. Copacetic.
Better Call Saul season 3 starts up tonight!
